In its attempt to reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16, Valencia Basket will have to do without its center Serhiy Lishchuk who suffered a leg injury that will keep him sidelined until the end of this calendar year. The injury occurred during the regular season Round 7 game against Galatasaray Liv Hospital on Friday, which Valencia won 78-71 and got back into the hunt for the Top 16. Lishchuk felt pain in the hamstring of his right leg during the second quarter, and never returned to action. MRI the next day revealed a muscle tear, which means Valencia’s big man will miss the remainder of the regular season because the estimated recovery period for the injury is four weeks. Lishchuk has started in 3 of the 6 Euroleague games he played this season, and has averaged 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. This is the sixth season Lishchuk has been playing in Valencia uniform, having won a pair of Eurocup titles with the club.
