The week came to an end with a new face for Lottomatica Roma, as the club announced on Friday the signing of American power forward Erik Daniels. The deal is for one season with an option for a second year. Daniels (204, 25) arrives from Biella, where he had a stand-out season for his first in the Italian League, averaging 16.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2 assists per game. His rebounding totals were second best in the league. The year before that Daniels also excelled on the boards, averaging 17.6 points and 8.1 rebounds – third best in the NBDL – when he played for the Fayetteville Patriots. Daniels rose to stardom at the University of Kentucky, where he was the second best scorer on the team during his senior season with 14.5 points per game. He also played 21 games in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings in 2004-05 season.
