Although he's just starting his second Euroleague season, the regular season's Week 3 MVP has proven already to be a major impact player. Jeremiah Massey of Aris TT Bank registered the top individual perfomance this week with a performance index rating of 40. Massey was unstoppable, scoring 28 points and making 12 of 14 two-point shots, while leading still-undefeated Aris to a big Group B victory over visiting Cibona. He added 11 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks and 6 fouls drawn to amass a 40 index. Nikola Pekovic on Partizan Igokea was second in the MVP race with a 37 index. Pekovic, the Week 1 MVP, had 28 points on 8-of-10 two-pointers, 12-of-12 free throws and 10 rebounds in his team's first Euroleague loss of the season against defending champion Panathinaikos. Arvydas Macijauskas of Olympiacos was third in the MVP standings. Macijauskas had 24 points on 8-of-8 two-pointers, 8-of-9 free throws and 6 rebounds to lead the Reds past Virtus VidiVici Bologna. Hollis Price of Lietuvos Rytas (index 32) and Marc Jackson of Olympiacos (31) complete the top individual perfomances of the week.
Individual highs: Mirsad Turkcan, 17 rebounds
Massey and Pekovic not only were first and second, respectively, in the Week 3 MVP list, but also were its top scorers with 28 points apiece. Pekovic (26.7 ppg.) is also the current top scorer in the competition. Mirsad Turkcan of Fenerbahce Ulker led all rebounders by pulling down 17 boards in his team's home win against Lottomatica Roma. It comes as no surprise, as Turkcan is the Euroleague's all-time top rebounder with 954 boards and also leads this year's overall list (12 rpg.). Will Conroy of Virtus Vidivici Bologna, Drew Nicholas of Efes Pilsen and Price each had 6 assists this week. Pepe Sanchez of AXA FCB and Roko Ukic of Lottomatica Roma head the overall standings (6.0 apg. each). Shaun Stonerook collected 6 steals, more than anyone else this week. Chuck Eidson, who collected 4 steals in his Euroleague debut this week, leads the standings in this category while Nicolas Batum of Le Mans is best among those who have played more than one game (3.33 spg.). Marc Jackson of Olympiacos had 4 blocks this week. Jackson (1.67 bpg.) ties for fifth place in the regular season standings, way behind overall leader Andrea Crosariol (2.67 bpg.). Six players - Pekovic, Massey, Turkcan, Thomas Van den Spiegel of Prokom Trefl Sopot, Felipe Reyes of Real Madrid and Goran Jurak of Zalgiris - registered respective double-doubles this week.
