Week 8 MVP: Marc Salyers, Chorale Roanne
A first-time Euroleague player who is currently the top scorer of the competition also became its Week 8 MVP. Marc Salyers of Chorale Roanne recorded the best individual performance of the week with a 34 index rating in his team's come-from-behind 84-81 home win over Brose Baskets Bamberg. Salyers had 28 points on 6-for-7 three-pointers and 6-for-8 free throws. He added 7 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 9 fouls drawn. Nicolas Batum of Le Mans Sarthe Basket had a perfect shooting night despite his team's home loss to Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv. Batum scored 24 points on 7-for-7 two-pointers, 3-for-3 triples and 1-for-1 free throws. He added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 4 fouls drawn for a 33 index. Rimantas Kaukenas of Montepaschi Siena, Andre Hutson of Efes Pilsen and Goran Dragic of Union Olimpija, each with a 29 index, completed the top individual performances this week.

Marcus Brown of Zalgiris was the top scorer for the second consecutive week. Brown, who is also the Euroleague's all-time top scorer with 2,150 points, had 31 in his team's home win against Virtus Vidivici Bologna. Salyers remains the regular season's overall scoring leader, averaging 22.8 points after eight weeks. Jeremiah Massey of Aris TT Bank led all rebounders this week by pulling down 14 in his team's road loss against Unicaja. Mirsad Turkcan keeps leading the regular season standings (10 rpg.) and needs just 12 rebounds to become the first player to pull down 1,000 in his Euroleague career. Scoonie Penn dished 9 assists, more than anyone this week, to help Efes Pilsen down Cibona at home. Marc-Antoine Pellin of Chorale Roanne stays atop the assists board at 5.6 per game. Roderick Blakney of Olympiacos collected 6 steals this week. Terrell McIntyre and his Montepaschi teammate Shaun Stonerook lead the league in steals, each with a 2.38 average. Andrea Crosariol of Virtus and Marcus Haislip of Unicaja had 4 blocks apiece this week. Crosariol now leads the overall standings at 1.68 blocks per game. Only Massey - 10 points, 14 rebounds - and David Andersen of CSKA Moscow - 17 points and 11 rebounds - registered double-doubles this week.
