Zalgiris Kaunas announced that the team’s former general manager Ginas Rutkauskas has returned to the club. Rutkauskas was named the club’s vice president and will be responsible for sports related matters. He has a long and rich history with the Lithuanian champs. Rutkauskas began working for Zalgiris in the early 1990s and was the club’s general manager from 1998 to 2007. He was the architect of Zalgiris’s Euroleague winning team in 1999. Rutkauskas spent most of the past eight years in various basketball capacities in Russia. He worked for Dinamo Moscow as its sports director, served as the director general of the Russian Basketball League and was a vice president at Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar.
