Olympiacos Piraeus strengthened its frontcourt by signing big man Michalis Tsairelis, who arrives from Spanish side CB Canarias. Tsairelis (2.06 meters, 27 years old) spent his entire career in his native Greece before joining Canarias last summer. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds over 19 games in Spain. Tsairelis has played in the Eurocup with both Aris and PAOK Thessaloniki – he averaged 11.4 points and 4.1 boards for PAOK in the Eurocup last season – but is poised to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with Olympiacos. Tsairelis has also played for AEL Larissa and AS Trikalla and has represented the Greek national team at the junior levels.
