One of most versatile players in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague has found a long-term home as Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv announced Monday that it has reached a new agreement with Devin Smith to keep one of the leaders of its continental title team last season through the end of the 2017-18 season. Smith (1.96 meters, 31 years old) is now in his fourth season with Maccabi and will extend his stay to seven seasons by the time his new contract ends. He averages team highs of 15.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 21 Euroleague games this season. Smith, who also played the 2008-09 Euroleague with Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, has totals of 1,172 points and 536 rebounds in 109 Euroleague career games. He started his career with Gipuzkoa Basket Club in Spain and also played for Panellinios Athens in Greece, as well as for Avellino and Benetton Treviso in Italy. Smith was chosen to the All-Eurocup first team twice - with Panellinios in the 2009-10 season and with Benetton the following year. He has been chosen as the bwin MVP of the month twice in the Euroleague - in March 2013 and December 2014. He also helped Maccabi win two Israeli League, four Israeli State Cup and an Adriatic League title between 2012 and 2015.
