One of the best centers in Turkish Airlines Euroleague is staying put with the team where he has enjoyed the finest seasons of his career so far as FC Barcelona announced Tuesday a new agreement with Ante Tomic that lasts until at least the end of the 2017-18 season. Tomic (2.17 meters, 28 years old) has been chosen to the All-Euroleague teams in each of his three seasons with Barcelona. He averaged 11.5 points on 60.9% two-point shots and 7.1 rebounds in 28 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games this season. Tomic helped Barcelona win the Copa del Rey title in 2013 and lift the Spanish League trophy in 2014. He has reached the Final Four three times during his career - with Real Madrid in 2011 and with Barcelona in 2013 and 2014. Tomic has been chosen as the Euroleague MVP of the month three times - in February 2013, February 2014 and March 2014. He has accumulated 1,441 points and 792 rebounds in 134 Euroleague career games. Over the last three seasons, since he arrived in Barcelona, Tomic leads the Euroleague in rebounds (581) and performance index ranking (1,464), and ranks fourth in scoring (1,013). Tomic started his career in Zagreb, which he helped win a Croatian Cup title in 2008. He also lifted the Copa del Rey title with Madrid in 2012 and is a regular member of the Croatian national team.
"I am very happy to extend my contract and very thankful to everyone in the club for their support and for this new opportunity that I have been given," Tomic said. "I only have good memories in Barcelona and hope to win as many titles as possible with the club."
