FC Barcelona Lassa reinforced its frontcourt for the upcoming season, signing athletic big man Shane Lawal on a two-year contract on Monday. Lawal (2.08 meters, 28 years old) made history with Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari last season, claiming a triple crown in Italy, while both Lawal and the club made their respective Turkish Airlines Euroleague debuts. He was Euroleague’s best offensive rebounder in the regular season with 4.3 per night, he pulled down third-best 7.3 total rebounds and also ranked third with 1.5 blocked shots. Lawal also averaged 9.0 points, 1.5 steals and his thundering dunks were often featured in weekly top plays. Lawal averaged 11.7 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Italian League action, and 10.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in Eurocup Last 32. Lawal started his professional career in Qatar with Al Arabi, played in Spanish second division with Guadalajara and Clavijo, also spent a year with second division Italian side Verona, and also a season with BC Astana in Kazakhstan.
