Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari announced Tuesday that veteran guard Matteo Formenti will remain with the club for the coming season. Formenti (1.94 meters, 33 years old) joined Sassari early last season and thanks to his standout defense became a key reserve in the club’s march to the Italian league crown. He averaged 3.3 points in three Turkish Airlines Euroleague games, 3.2 points in six Eurocup appearances and posted 2.4 points in 32 Italian League contests. Formenti has also played for Enel Brindisi, Vanoli-Braga Cremona, Fastweb Casale Monferrato, Pallacanestro Treviglio and Rima Desio in his native Italy. He has been a member of the Italian U18, U20 and B national teams. Formenti helped Monferrato win the Italian third division title in 2005 and lifted the Italian second division trophy with Brindisi in 2012.
