Strasbourg added an important piece with the signing of swingman Mardy Collins, who posted big numbers last season for PGE Turow Zgorzelec. Collins (1.98 meters, 30 years old) averaged 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and was sixth among all regular season players with 1.9 steals per game in eight Turkish Airlines Euroleague appearances. He went on to average 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.3 steals in eight Eurocup appearances too. Collins was 1 assist short of a triple-double in his Eurocup debut and was the Eurocup Last 32 Round 4 MVP after recording a performance index rating of 40 in a road win at Telenet Ostend. Strasbourg will be Collins’s third straight Euroleague campaign with as many different teams; he played the 2013-14 Euroleague with Olympiacos Piraeus. Collins played with New York in the NBA from 2006 to 2008 after playing college basketball at Temple University. He has also played for Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA, Bornova Bld in Turkey, Jiangsu Nangang Dragons Nanjing in China, Los Angeles and Iowa in the D-League, Maccabi Ashdod in Israel, Guaros de Lara in Venezuela and Sutor Montegranaro in Italy.
