Llull, Ayon star as Madrid routs Barcelona to even Spanish finals
Sergio Llull and Gustovo Ayon shared the spotlight as Real Madrid rousted FC Barcelona Lassa 70-90 on Friday to even the Spanish League finals at 1-1. The visitors led from start to finish and pulled away every time Barcelona came close. Llull scored 20 points and dished 4 assists and Ayon went 9 for 9 from the field for 19 points. Trey Thompkins and Felipe Reyes added 12 points each and Sergio Rodriguez posted 10 points and 5 assists. Llull opened the scoring and Thompkins netted 5 points as Madrid stormed out to a 2-11 start. The difference soon reached double figures on Llull’s first three-pointer and stood at 12-28 after 10 minutes with the mercurial guard boasting 13 points and 3 assists already. The margin reached 16-37 on a Rodriguez three-pointer, but Barcelona did not fall apart. Instead Pau Ribas scored twice in an 11-0 Barcelona run and the hosts eventually clawed their way back to within 9. Rudy Fernandez split free throws to make it 32-44 at the break. Juan Carlos Navarro helped Barcelona make another push in the third quarter and his three-pointer made it 43-49. Ayon and Llull kept Madrid ahead, however the pressure remained after a Startos Perperoglou triple got the hosts within 5. Madrid responded with a 0-9 run, but Tomas Satoransky scored twice at the end of the quarter to narrow the gap to 58-66.
