Six teams found their way forward on the last day of action in the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Qualifiers on Saturday to reach the field of 24 that will play next summer for the chance to become European national champions. Needing a victory to be sure of qualification, Germany pulled away steadily from the Netherlands after halftime to a resounding 51-82 victory that was good for first place in their group. Johannes Voigtmann of Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz led the winners with 15 points while Daniel Theis of Brose Bamberg had 14. His new Bamberg teammate, Maodo Lo, flirted with a triple double before finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Danilo Barthel of FC Bayern Munich added 9 points and 5 rebounds for Germany. Poland also took the high road into next summer's tournament with a 63-94 win over Estonia in which Mateusz Ponitka had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Georgia took care of business, too, stopping host Montenegro 84-90 as Michael Dixon pured in 31 points and Zaza Pachulia had 21 points and 13 rebounds. In addition to those three winners, Iceland went forward with a victory while Great Britain and Ukraine advanced with Montenegro among the four best second-placed teams.
