Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz has announced the signing of point guard Josh Akognon to a one-month contract that could see him make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut. If Baskonia likes what it sees of Akognon (1.80 meters, 30 years old), the club retains an option to keep him all season. Akognon has been a pro since 2009, when he debuted with Kalev/Cramo in Estonia. He has split much of his time since then between China and the NBA D-League, with recent stops in Partizan Belgrade and Dinamo Sassari. Along the way, Akognon was the Chinese Basketball Association's top three-point shooter in 2011, 2013 and 2015. Akognon was a member of the Nigerian national team that played in the 2016 Summer Olympics. There in Rio de Janeiro, he averaged 10.6 points for Nigeria.
