Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv made official the signing of power forward Milan Macvan, one of the top young big men in basketball, to a contract that last through the 2014-15 season. Maccabi adds Macvan (206, 21) to a roster that is already tied for the best record in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague so far this season. Macvan has played four seasons as a pro for Hemofarm Stada in his native Serbia. Macvan reached the Eurocup semifinals as a teenager in 2008-09, earning the Eurocup Rising Star Trophy award that season along the way. So far this season, Macvan averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and a 23 index rating for Hemofarm through five Eurocup games. Macvan has also been also a featured member of a golden generation of Serbian youth national teams that won gold medals in European and World championships. He graduated to win a silver medal with the senior national team of Serbia at EuroBasket 2009 and to reach the semifinals of the FIBA World Championships last summer in Turkey.
