After he helped save the team's qualification to the Top 16, Unicaja on Friday extended the temporary contract of point guard Roderick Blakney until the end of the season. Blakney (186, 34) arrived at mid-season to Malaga, after an injury to starter Terrell McIntyre, and soon was a catalyst as Unicaja won three of its next four games to reach the Top 16. Blakney finished the regular season with averages of 8.5 points and 4.3 assists, which would have ranked him sixth in the regular season if he had played enough games. Before this in his 11-year pro career, Blakney spent seven seasons with five Greek teams, one in Russia and one in Turkey. While McIntyre has returned to action, Blakney's spot on the roster was made possible by Unicaja loaning Panchi Barrera to another Spanish League team a few days ago.
