Turkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful VEF Riga made sure to keep its leader by signing guard Kristaps Janicenoks to a three-year contract extension. Janicenoks (1,96 meters, 28 years old) starred for VEF last season in the Eurocup when he ranked second in the competition in the regular season with 20.3 points per game and tied for third with 2.5 steals per game. Afterwards he played a key role in helping Riga win the Latvian League title. Janicenoks began his career with ASK Broceni Riga before moving abroad for the first time in 2003 as a 20-year-old, when he signed for Belgian club Liege BC. Janicenoks has since played for Telekom Bonn in Germany and for Fortitudo Bologna, Capo D'Orlando, Siviglia Wear Teramo and Umana Venezia in Italy. He has also been a regular for the Latvian national team.
