The Dominican Republic provided the biggest surprise so far at the 2011 FIBA Americas Championships by edging Brazil 74-79 in Group A behind 22 points from Tito Horford. Francisco Garcia added 14 for the Dominicans. Marcus Vinicius had 18 points for Brazil while former All-Euroleague center Tiago Splitter and FC Barcelona Regal Marcelinho Huertas each had 16. Also in Group A, Canada thrashed Cuba 84-62 behind 13 points from Jevohn Shepherd and 11 from Jermaine Anderson of Asseco Prokom Gdynia. The Dominican Republic leads Group A at 3-1, with Brazil and Canada right behind each at 2-1. Argentina went up to 3-0 in Group B by edging Puerto Rico 74-81 behind 23 points from former Euroleague Final Four MVP Manu Ginobili. Former All-Euroleague forward Luis Scola added 16 for Argentina. Carlos Arroyo had 24 points for Puerto Rico, that went down to 3-1. Uruguay downed Panama 61-77 with 24 points and 10 rebounds from Anadolu Efes center Esteban Batista.
