FIBA Americas 2011: Semifinals

Pablo Prigioni - Argentina Argentina and Brazil will face off for the gold medal at FIBA Americas 2011 after both survived close semifinals on Saturday to win places in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Defending champ Brazil followed a stellar performance by Marceinho Huertas of FC Barcelona Regal to an 83-76 vicory against the Dominican Republic. Huertas played all 40 minutes, poured in 19 points and dished 7 assistss to keep the Brazil offense in fine tune all night. Marcelo Machado led Brazil's scorers with 20 points while Rafael Hettsheimer added 14. Argentina held off Puerto Rico 81-79 in a thriller with Pablo Prigioni of Caja Laboral playing a key role. He hit 5 of his 8 three-point attempts for 16 points and dished 5 assists while playing 36 minutes. Former All-Euroleague players Luis Scola and Manu Ginobili had 27 and 23 points, respectively, to lead Argetina's scorers. Argentina's team total of 20 assists to just 7 for Puerto Rico was a key difference. The medal games will be played Sunday in Mar de Plata, Argentina.
