Darussafaka Istanbul signed veteran forward Zanis Peiners for two seasons, the club announced Monday. Peiners (2.05 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Lithuanian side Lietkabelis Panevezys with which he posted 12.8 points on 68.6% two-point shooting, 5.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season. He led his team with a performance index rating of 17.7 and in rebounding, while ranking second on Lietkabelis in scoring and assists. A native of Latvia, Peiners played for BZ Ezerzeme, ASK Riga, VEF Riga, Latvijas Universitate and Ventspils early in his career. He also played abroad for MBC Mikolaiv in Ukraine and PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece as well as for the Latvian national team.
