Unics Kazan bolstered its backcourt with the signing of Pavel Sergeev, who returns to the club after playing the 2007-08 season there. He signed a one0year deal with a team option for a second season. Sergeev (1.87 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Spartak St. Petersburg, where he saw limited action backing up Eurocup MVP Patrick Beverley last season. He began his career with Spartak in his native St. Petersburg and played three seasons there before spending a year at Unics Kazan, two at Triumph Lyubertsy and one with Enisey Krasnoyarsk. A former Russian junior national team player, Sergeev also played three past Eurocup seasons.
