A Euroleague legend will make one more push for a Euroleague crown with the news that EA7 Emporio Armani Milano signed Gianluca Basile to a one-year deal on Friday. Basile (1.92 meters, 37 years old) arrives from Bennet Cantu, where he averaged 10 points on 43% three-point shooting and 3.1 assists in 15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. He provided one of the greatest highlights of the 2011-12 season with a game-winning, buzzer-beating deep three-pointer to give Cantu a critical victory over Gescrap BB a ticket to the Top 16. Basile had joined Cantu from FC Barcelona Regal, where he played for six seasons and helped the club win the 2010 Euroleague championship. He also collected two Spanish League and three Spanish King's Cup trophies with Barca. He has also played for Reggio Emilia and Fortitudo Bologna, which he helped to win Italian League titles in 2000 and 2005. Basile was a regular member of the Italian national team and helped Italy win a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2003 and reach the 2004 Olympic Games final. Basile is the Euroleague’s career leader in three-pointers made with 415 and among the all-time Euroleague leaders in scoring (ninth, 2,133 points), assists (10th, 472), steals (fourth, 259) and games played (third, 214).
