ECA Shareholders Meeting approves change in qualifying rounds draw procedure

Turkish Airlines EuroleagueThe ECA Shareholders Meeting, meeting on Thursday evening in Barcelona, proposed and approved a change in the procedure for the draw of the qualifying rounds on Friday. The change concerns the number of different seeds, which will now be four. The qualifying rounds this year were reduced from two parallel four-team events, with both winners advancing to the regular season, to one with eight teams in a single elimination format that progresses to a single winner.

The teams participation in the 2012-13 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds are Unics Kazan of Russia and Pallacanestro Cantu of Italy, which received first seeds; CEZ Basketball Nymburk of the Czech Republic and Le Mans Sarthe Basket of France, which received second seeds; BC Donetsk of Ukraine and Telenet Oostende of Belgium, which will be third seeds; and Ratiopharm Ulm of Germany and PBC Lukoil Academic Sofia of Bulgaria, the fourth seeds.
