Turkish champion Besiktas JK Istanbul announced a deal with point guard Tutku Acik on Tuesday, making him the club’s first official signing since Erman Kunter was appointed head coach in June. Acik (1.94 meters, 31 years old) boasts vast Euroleague experience totaling 83 games over five seasons. He arrives from Galatasaray Medical Park, with whom Acik averaged 3.6 points and 1.9 assists over 13 minutes in 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. He also produced 5.7 points and 3.5 assists per game in the Turkish League. Acik grew up with Ulker and debuted as a 17-yrea old. He played a totol of seven seasons there – interrupted by a season on loan to Ankara Ted Kolejliler. Acik moved to Turk Telekom in in 2005 and spent five seasons there before playing the last two with Galatasaray. He has won the Turkish League title once and the Turkish Cup four times during his career.
