Union Olimpija Ljubljana announced on Thursday the addition of young point guard Luka Rupnik to a three-year deal, in a strong bet for the future of the team. Rupnik (1.85 meters, 19 years old) arrives from Geoplin Slovan of Slovenia, where last season he averaged 13.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists - leading the overall assists ranking - in 27 Slovenian League games. He also ranked fifth overall in the league with 1.6 steals per night. It was his third season as a pro player with Geoplin Slovan, the club where he made his debut in 2009. He was also part of U20 National Team of Slovenia this summer, and as well was called up to the Senior National Team preparations.
