Days after he led Herbalife Gran Canaria to victory on the road in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague as an interim coach, Victor Garcia has signed on for the rest of the season, the club announced Monday. Garcia, 38, stepped in when Gran Canaria released Salva Maldonado last week. He had been an assistant with the club during nine season since 2010, working under coaches Pedro Martinez, Aito Garcia Reneses, Luis Casimiro and Maldonado. In his first game at the head of the bench, Gran Canaria upset AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan on the road 86-94 in Round 11 of the EuroLeague regular season. Gran Canaria has a 4-7 record after winning consecutive road games and three of its last five overall in this, its debut EuroLeague season.
