Special transportation awaits Final Four fans

Fans from all over the world will find out at the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four that even if Vitoria-Gasteiz is its basketball epicenter, the Basque Country in northern Spain has many great places to visit and stay in during the long weekend of May 16 to 19.

But first, of course, they have to get to the area, and for Final Four ticket-holders from the qualifying teams – Anadolu Efes Istanbul, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Real Madrid – that means multiple options. Starting with the closest team geographically, fans from Madrid can fly to the nearby cities of Bilbao and San Sebastian (Donostia), take direct trains to both or to Vitoria-Gasteiz, or drive 450 kilometers or less to all three cities.

Fans from the two Istanbul teams, Efes and Fenerbahce, have the good fortune of direct flights with EuroLeague title sponsor Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Bilbao. The hardier among them could also go by car or bus, a trip of 3,000 kilometers or more.

CSKA fans will have to show true devotion to reach the Final Four city, as their only option to fly to the Basque Country is by connecting flights. Their car or bus alternatives, meanwhile, would require traveling more than 3,700 kilometers over land. Fans from the Russian capital do, however, have the possibility of connecting flights from Russia to all three Basque Country cities with airports: Bilbao, San Sebastian and Vitoria-Gasteiz.

If, however, a true Muscovite basketball fan prefers to take it slow and savor a long Final Four trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz, there is always a train ride of almost 4,500 kilometers via Berlin!

Once on the ground in the Basque Country, local organizers have fans covered with a special transportation service has been established for the Final Four. Those staying in Bilbao or San Sebastian will have two bus departures daily starting Thursday directly to the site of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Between Friday and Sunday, they also can choose from approximately five buses daily to either the Fan Zone or Fernando Buesa Arena, venue of the Final Four. In all cases, return trips are available after the games.

Once in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a mobility pass for special tram and bus lines running between all the Final Four venues will let fans save time and parking expense by putting them in comfy conditions to see everything there is to enjoy at the event. Organizers do not recommended bringing private or rental cars to Fernando Buesa Arena on game nights.
