Tribute to the Champs: Sergio Rodriguez

CSKA needed his magic and talent to go all the way and Sergio Rodriguez did not disappoint at the Final Four. Despite battling an ankle injury, Rodriguez played one of the best games of his legendary career in the semifinal against his former team Real Madrid. He came off the bench early with CSKA down by 6 and immediately started to make things happen, finishing the first quarter with 7 points and getting everyone involved with his body language and leadership. By the time he hit his second three-point shot, CSKA led 29-28 and the man nicknamed "El Chacho" already had 12 points. He changed the game by contributing and keeping CSKA afloat when it was struggling. Rodriguez finished the semifinal with 23 points and 4 assists in less than 21 minutes of action. With his injury affecting his speed, Rodriguez nevertheless buried a pair of three-point shots in the championship game against Anadolu Efes Istanbul and finished with 6 points in over 14 minutes.

He became the first Spanish player to win the EuroLeague with different teams; he had previously won the competition with Real in 2015. Rodriguez is now the only Spanish-born player to win the EuroLeague with a foreign team, too. A former EuroLeague MVP, Rodriguez added another big title to his impressive roll of honors with his clubs and the Spanish national team.
