Joel Bolomboy helped CSKA capture the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in his first season both in the competition and European continental basketball. Bureaucratic problems prevented Bolomboy from making his EuroLeague debut until late November, but once he was cleared to play, it was instantly clear why the Russian powerhouse signed him. Bolomboy's blue-collar attitude, winning mentality, strong defense, athleticism and deep shooting range (46.2% on three-pointers) made him a dangerous weapon in the CSKA arsenal. Coach Itoudis called upon Bolomboy briefly in the Final Four games in Vitoria-Gasteiz; he saw some playing time in the semifinal against Real Madrid late in the first half and provided toughness and intensity. He came on early in the championship game against Anadolu Efes Istanbul and collected a couple of rebounds in 3 minutes. Bolomboy showed glimpses of the player he can become as an important part of CSKA's future plans.
