His first season with CSKA Moscow was a big step up for Ivan Ukhov and forced him into some on-the-job learning, but when his coach refers to him as "a young Russian rising star," it is clear that big things are in store for the guard. Ukhov, 23, appeared in 13 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games this season after moving from fellow Russian side Parma Perm. His best performance came in Round 23 against Herbalife Gran Canaria; with Nando De Colo and Cory Higgins sidelined, Ukhov stepped into the void and delivered 12 points on near-perfect shooting plus 5 assists in 23 minutes off the bench to help CSKA to victory. Ukhov was sent into the championship game in Vitoria-Gasteiz twice – at the end of the first half and the middle of the third quarter – for defensive purposes. Under contract for two more seasons, Ukhov will look to carve out a bigger role going forward.
