Will Clyburn, an All-EuroLeague First Team selection and the recent Final Four MVP, will help lead CSKA Moscow's defense of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title after penning a new contract that will keep the sides together for three more seasons into 2022. Clyburn (2.01 meters, 29 years old) had his best season in 2018-19, in which he averaged 13.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 35 EuroLeague appearances for an average performance index rating of 17.5. These numbers and his decisive performances earned him a spot on the All-EuroLeague First Team. Clyburn starred at the Final Four in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, where he helped CSKA take the crown and was awarded the Final Four MVP honor in the process. This was his third season in the EuroLeague; Clyburn debuted for Darussafaka Istanbul in 2016 before joining CSKA a year later. Clyburn, who was the Israeli League's top scorer with Hapoel Holon in the 2015-16 season, also played in the 2013-14 EuroCup with ratiopharm Ulm of Germany.
"I am very excited to continue my career here," Clyburn said in a statement issued by the club. "Obviously, these two years were a learning experience and a fulfillment. We won the EuroLeague this year, as well as VTB League. It was a great year, so I am happy to continue to try to build and achieve more here. I am happy that CSKA, as an organization, wants me to stay. I am going to enjoy it."
"We are all happy that we will continue working with Will and being a part of his growth as a player, a person and a family man," CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. "He has proven in the last two years that he is thrilled and determined to defend CSKA's colors and to become a better player – a franchise player, I would say. May God keep him healthy so that he helps to bring more trophies to CSKA."
