Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv added a big piece to its backcourt on Sunday by signing guard Nate Wolters to a two-year deal. Wolters (1.93 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas, which he helped reach the EuroLeague Playoffs last season with 11.2 points and 3.8 assists per game. He also played an instrumental role in Zalgiris winning the Lithuanian championship.
Last season was just the second in the competition for Wolters who made his EuroLeague debut in 2016-17 with Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. He won the Adriatic League and the Serbian League and Cup double in his time with Zvezda. Wolters has also played for Besiktas Istanbul in Turkey, Chalon-sur-Saone in France, for Milwaukee, New Orleans and Utah in the NBA, and for Grand Rapids and Salt Lake City in the G-League.
"I can't wait to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv," Wolters said in a release. "I've only heard great things about the organization and that their fans are the best in the world. I know that we will have a great season and I'm excited for it to begin."
"After the end of the season, I spoke to the management and staff about signing Nate Wolters," Maccabi coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos said. "He's a player that can help us both defensively and with his shooting. He fits my style of play and plans for the future. I'm happy that we were able to sign him even though there were other teams that wanted him. Maccabi has signed a very good player."
