Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade signed a deal on Monday with guard and defensive ace Branko Lazic that will keep the team captain and club record-holder in the Serbian capital until 2022. Lazic (1.97 meters, 30 years old) has been with the club since 2011 and is Zvezda's all-time leader in appearances and trophies won. Considered one of the best defensive players on the continent, Lazic contributed with 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season and averaged 6.3 points in the Serbian League.
"It is an honor and a pleasure that we extended the contract with Branko Lazic," Zvezda general manager Filip Sunturlic said. "His name is tied to the club's stability as well as with the trophies we have won in recent seasons, and there were really a lot of them. Now that we are back in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, we have an obligation to continue in the same rhythm and keeping our team captain is one of the steps in the right direction."
