Fresh of its second consecutive German League title, FC Bayern Munich has locked up veteran guard Nihad Dedovic, who was a key contributor to that success, with a new contract that lasts until 2013. Dedovic (1.99 meters, 29 years old) has already spent six seasons in Munich, making him the player who has worn the Bayern basketball jersey more than any other. His new contract will mean a full decade with his fourth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club. Last season, starting 28 of 30 EuroLeague games, he averaged 9.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists as Bayern came close to making the playoffs. He also scored his 1,000th EuroLeague point. In 110 career EuroLeague games, he has a total of 1,087 points for an average of 9.9. He has played 45 EuroCup games with Bayern and averaged 8.3 points in that competition.
Dedovic debuted in the EuroLeague as a teenager with FC Barcelona, playing sparingly between 2007 and 2009. He became a starter in the 2010-11 season for Lottomatica Roma of Italy, then spent a year with Galatasaray of Turkey before landing in German with ALBA Berlin, for whom he scored 8.6 points over 23 EuroLeague games in the 2012-13 season. Since joining Bayern in 2013, he has played in 58 EuroLeague games, averaging 11.0 points. "Munich is a second home to me and FC Bayern my second family, so I'm very happy and proud to stay here for the next four years," Dedovic said. "I would like to thank everyone in the club who gave me such great support again this year. I enjoyed this long season very much, even though it was the most exhausting of my career so far. I will continue to do my utmost to keep basketball at FC Bayern Munich going its successful way and I'm really looking forward to the future together."
