FC Barcelona and versatile forward Victor Claver signed a contract that ensures the sides are together for three more seasons, the club announced Tuesday. Claver (2.07 meters, 29 years old) had another season on his current deal and with the two-year extension will be with the club through the end of the 2021-22 season. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 35 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, his third with Barcelona. Claver helped Barcelona win back-to-back Spanish Copa del Reys the last two seasons.
Claver started his career with Valencia Basket and has also played for Portland of the NBA, Idaho of the D-League and Khimki Moscow Region and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar of Russia. He helped Valencia win the 7DAYS EuroCup in 2010 and reached the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four with Lokomotiv in 2016.
Claver has also been a successful member of the Spanish national team, with which he won EuroBasket gold medals in 2009, 2011 and 2015. He also helped Spain capture a pair of Olympic medals - silver in London 2012 and bronze in Rio 2016 - and took home the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2013. This will be Claver's sixth EuroLeague campaign; he has averaged 6.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 131 career EuroLeague games.
