Olympiacos keeps experienced guard Cherry

Olympiacos Piraeus has decided to keep experienced point guard Will Cherry in its backcourt for the coming season. Cherry (1.85 meters, 28 years old) joined Olympiacos in mid-April to help the team finish its domestic season. He played the rest of last season with Santa Cruz of the NBA G League, but spent three of the previous four in Euroleague Basketball competitions. His European debut, in fact, came in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for Zalgiris Kaunas in the 2014-15 season, in which he posted averages of 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals over 15 games. The following year, Cherry played for ALBA Berlin in the 7DAYS EuroCup and raised his numbers to 10.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals as the team reached the eighthfinals. He returned to the EuroCup for the 2017-18 season with Cedevita Zagreb to averaged 11.8 points, 4.1 assists. 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals. Cherry began his pro career in the G League and also played eight games with Cleveland of the NBA before arriving at Zalgiris. He has also played one season for Gaziantep of Turkey.
