Zenit St Petersburg improved its backcourt by inking power forward Will Thomas to a two-year deal, the club announced Wednesday. Thomas (2.03 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Valencia Basket, where he averaged 11.8 points on excellent shooting percentages (64.9% 2FG, 43.5% 3FG) and 3.7 rebounds in 23 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He boosted his numbers up to 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in the title series against ALBA Berlin, earning Finals MVP honors and leading Valencia to its fourth EuroCup crown.
In his three season with Valencia, Thomas helped the team win its first Spanish League title and reached the EuroCup Finals in 2017. He started his professional basketball career with Belgacom Liege Basket of Belgium. Thomas also played for Telenet Ostend also of Belgium, Army Sport Klub Tbilisi of Georgia, Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir of Turkey, Sidigas Avellino of Italy and Unicaja Malaga of Spain. He helped Army Sport win the Georgian League title in 2012 and took Karsiyaka to the EuroChallenge title game in 2013. In 78 EuroLeague career games in three seasons in the competition with Unicaja and Valencia, Thomas has accumulated 545 points and 326 rebounds.
