Maccabi brings Casspi back home

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv signed homegrown forward Omri Casspi to a three-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Casspi (2.05 meters, 31 years old) is a product of the Maccabi youth system and played three seasons for its senior squad before moving to the NBA, where he spent the past decade. He suited up for Sacramento, Cleveland, Houston, New Orleans, Minnesota, Golden State and Memphis and averaged 7.9 points and 4.0 rebounds in 588 career games. Casspi tallied 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds over 36 games last season for Memphis in an injury-shortened campaign.

He last played in the EuroLeague in 2008-09, when he averaged 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16 games for Maccabi. Casspi helped Maccabi to a pair of Israeli League titles and one Israeli Cup in those years.
