Real Madrid secured its point guard position for the foreseeable future on Friday when it announced a new contract with Facundo Campazzo that will have the player wearing the white jersey until 2024. Campazzo (1.80 meters, 28 years old) averaged 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 steals in 34 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season, as he was also named MVP for April in 2019.
Campazzo arrived in Madrid for the 2014-15 season and he was already part of the team that won the EuroLeague title that season, 20 years after the club had won the previous one. He then went to Murcia for one season on loan, but was back the following year to become one of the key pieces in the Pablo Laso team. He also led Real to the 2018 EuroLeague title and to domestic success with three Spanish League titles in 2015, 2018 and 2019.
