Calendar countdown: Round 15

The countdown is on for the start of the 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season on October 3! The new EuroLeague season once again promises great matchups, week in and week out, but also more teams and games to enjoy than ever before in European club basketball. Season-long drama is in store, that's for certain. Just check out the matchups in Round 15!

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul vs. Zenit St Petersburg

Another EuroLeague first

· This game marks the first time Fenerbahce and Zenit square off in an official game at any level.

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv vs. Panathinaikos OPAP Athens

A hero returns

· Panathinaikos guard Tyrese Rice was the 2014 Final Four MVP in his only season with Maccabi. He led the team to its latest EuroLeague title with 26 points in the championship game victory over Real Madrid in Milan, Italy. Rice also helped Maccabi capture the Israeli League and Cup double that season.

· Valencia and Milan have played four times previously in the EuroLeague and all four games were won by the road team. Will that streak continue?

· Madrid coach Pablo Laso spent the bulk of his playing career in his hometown of Vitoria-Gasteiz with Baskonia in the 1990s. He helped lead the club to its first trophy, the 1995 Copa del Rey, as well as to back-to-back Saporta Cup final appearances. His teammate then was current Baskonia head coach Velimir Perasovic, who played together for Baskonia between 1993 and 1995.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. CSKA Moscow

Championship game rematch

· CSKA outlasted Efes 83-91 to win its eighth European crown in the EuroLeague championship game last May. Final Four MVP Will Clyburn scored 20 points as CSKA’s scoring co-leader in that game, while Shane Larkin made history for Efes with 29 points, which was the most in the championship game since the turn of the century.

Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade vs. Olympiacos Piraeus

The Reds’ legend

· Zvezda head coach Milan Tomic is a living legend for Olympiacos. He played for Olympiacos from 1991 to 2005 and lifted the club's first EuroLeague trophy in 1997. Tomic was also Olympiacos's assistant coach from 2008 to 2018 and the team's interim coach twice. He played 383 Greek League games and 214 EuroLeague games with the Reds.

FC Bayern Munich vs. FC Barcelona

The Pesic reunion

· Barcelona's Svetislav Pesic spent four seasons from 2012 to 2016 as Bayern's head coach. He led the team to the 2014 German League title and the 2016 EuroCup Quarterfinals. Only Nihad Dedovic remains from his time with the club. His son Marko Pesic is the Bayern general manager.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne vs. ALBA Berlin

After a decade and a half...

· ALBA returns to the EuroLeague after five years and ASVEL after a decade. The last time they faced each other in the competition was in the 2003-04 EuroLeague regular season when they split home wins.
