Calendar countdown: Round 17

The countdown is on for the start of the 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season on October 3! The new EuroLeague season once again promises great matchups, week in and week out, but also more teams and games to enjoy than ever before in European club basketball. Season-long drama is in store, that's for certain. Just check out the matchups in Round 17!

Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv

Zalgiris recalls record night

· Zalgiris recorded a club record 29 assists against Maccabi in a 99-84 home win in February of 2018.

Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade vs. FC Bayern Munich

Radonjic visits Zvezda

· Coach Dejan Radonjic returns to Belgrade where he spent more than four seasons, from 2013 through 2017. He led Zvezda to three Adriatic League, three Serbian League and three Serbian Cup titles. Current Zvezda players Ognjen Kuzmic, Charles Jenkins, Branko Lazic, Borisa Simanic and Ognjen Dobric all played for Radonjic.

· Fenerbahce swept a pair of regular-season games from Olympiacos last season after the Reds did the sweeping a season earlier.

· Each of the last four EuroLeague season-series between these teams ended in a sweep. Baskonia won all the clashes in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 season, while Barcelona swept last year's regular-season series.

· CSKA had won nine straight home games against Panathinaikos until the Greens pulled out a 77-78 win on a Nick Calathes banked last-second triple to complete a regular-season sweep of CSKA.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul vs. Khimki Moscow Region

When Khimki aired it out in Istanbul

· Khimki set a EuroLeague club record with 17 three-pointers made in an 86-68 home win in December 2017. That was also the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne vs. Real Madrid

It was 18 years ago

· This game will mark the first time ASVEL and Real have faced each other since the 2002-03 EuroLeague season when they split road regular-season wins. In their last head-to-head game, ASVEL won 77-85 in Madrid behind 18 points from Robert Gulyas.

AX Armani Exchange Milan vs. Zenit St Petersburg

History will be made

· This marks the first time these two teams will have played each other in an official game.

Valencia Basket vs. ALBA Berlin

Sikma visits Valencia

· ALBA's Luke Sikma played at Valencia for two seasons, from 2015 to 2017. He was a teammate of current Valencia players Bojan Dubljevic, Sam Van Rossom, Fernando San Emeterio, Joan Sastre and Guillem Vives and helped the team win their lone Spanish League title in 2017.
