Charismatic and talented, sweet-shooting forward Luigi Datome helped Fenerbahce Istanbul make history as the first Turkish team to lift the EuroLeague trophy. He had two very different EuroLeague stints in the 2010s. At age 23, he averaged 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 2010-11, his third Euroleague season with Lottomatica Roma. He did not return to the EuroLeague until 2015, right in the prime of his career, to play a critical role on a Fenerbahce team that quickly became one of the decade's biggest success stories.
In their four full seasons together, Datome and Fenerbahce have reached the Final Four each time and played in three championship games. Between an overtime loss in the 2016 final and another disappointment in 2018, however, they reached EuroLeague glory at home in Istanbul in 2017 as Datome added 11 points to the cause in the title game. Along the way, Datome was voted to the 2015-16 All-EuroLeague Second Team.

Entering this season, no EuroLeague player this decade had made more three-pointers at a higher rate than Datome's 254 and 43.6%, respectively. At the same time, his career 91.1% free throw shooting ranks sixth all-time in the competition. The ultimate team player and glue guy, it's no wonder that Datome is a fan favorite in Istanbul and beyond.
