In an effort to boost its Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title defense, CSKA Moscow has added forward Howard Sant-Roos with a contract until the end of 2022-23 season with the mutual termination option after this season, the club announced on Saturday. Sant-Roos (2.00 meters, 28 years old) was a starter for the Darussafaka Istanbul team that won the 2017-18 7DAYS EuroCup, for whom he averaged 8.6 points and 4.2 rebounds. Widely respected for his defense, Sant-Roos led the EuroCup that season with 2.1 steals per game. Since then, Sant-Roos has played the last season-and-a-half for AEK Athens. During this one, he has been averaging 12.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals in the FIBA Basketball Champions League. When Sant-Roos makes his debut, he will become the first Cuban to play in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this century, just as he was the first player from his country to become a EuroCup champion.
