AX Armani Exchange Milan has added the winningest active player in European basketball to its roster with the signing of four-time Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion and 2010-20 All-Decade selection Kyle Hines for the next two seasons. The veteran center and two-time EuroLeague Best Defender has spent the past seven seasons with CSKA Moscow, with which he won the second two of his EuroLeague crowns. Hines (1.98 meters, 33 years old) averaged 8.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks last season, which was his 10th in Europe's premier basketball competition. In that time, he has risen up the ranks to position himself among the all-time leaders in offensive rebounds (second; 580), blocked shots (third, 232), two-point baskets (fifth; 961), rebounds (sixth; 1,289) and performance index rating (10th; 3,090). He has taken part in 209 games which his teams have won, which is more than all but three players in EuroLeague history.
Hines began his professional career with second-division Prima Veroli of Italy where, in two seasons, he established himself as a rising force. He made his EuroLeague debut in 2010 with Brose Bamberg of Germany and then spent two years with Olympiacos Piraeus as a key part of that team's back-to-back EuroLeague titles in 2012 and 2013. Hines signed with CSKA in 2013 and helped that team to six consecutive Final Fours and EuroLeague championships in 2016 and 2019. He was voted EuroLeague Best Defender for the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons. He has also won eight national championships in a total of three countries.
“I want to thank Mr. Armani and Mr. Dell’Orco for allowing me to join Olimpia Milano. I’m excited about the opportunity to join such a historic team and look forward to helping to add to the past success of the club. My family and I can’t wait to make Milan our new home and start this new journey with all the Olimpia Milano fans,” Hines said.
