LDLC ASVEL reached a new agreement with center Ismael Bako to extend his contract for one more year, the club announced Friday. Bako (2.08 meters, 24 years old) signed a two-year deal last summer but with this new agreement, he is now under contract until the end of the 2021-22 season. He averaged 3.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. He ranked second in the competition in blocks per 40 minutes (3.64), only trailing Walter Tavares of Real Madrid (3.80). Bako had joined ASVEL from Telenet Giants Antwerp, where he averaged 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 43 Belgian League games in the 2018-19 season. He started his career with another Belgian team, Stella Artois Leuven Bears, and joined Antwerp in 2017. Bako earned MVP honors while helping Antwerp win the 2019 Belgian Cup. He is also a member of the Belgian national team.
