It's an end of an era at Palau Blaugrana with the announcement on Thursday night that FC Barcelona will not extend a contract with its team captain and a current longest tenured player, center Ante Tomic. No foreign player played more games in Barcelona uniform than Tomic (2.17 meters, 33 years old) who arrived to the club ahead of the 2012-13 season and made 236 appearances with the club in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, starting 191 of those. Along the way during those eight seasons, he became EuroLeague all-time leader in two-point shots made with 1,137, with 952 of those coming in Barcelona jersey. Tomic has been one of the EuroLeague's most productive players of the past decade, ranking first in total PIR (3,650), total rebounds (1,501) and defensive rebounds (993), second in offensive rebounds (508), third in points (2,729) and fifth in blocks (154). Tomic helped Barcelona reach the Final Four in 2013 and 2014, and earned All-EuroLeague First Team honors in each of those two seasons, before making a second team selection in 2015. Tomic helped Barcelona win the Spanish League crowns in 2013 and 2014, and Spanish Cup titles in 2013 and 2018.
