Valencia Basket added fire power to its roster by inking shooting guard Klemen Prepelic to a two-year deal with an option for a third season, the club announced on Saturday. Prepelic (1.91 meters, 27 years old) arrives from a fellow Spanish side Joventut Badalona, where he averaged 17.0 points and 3.9 assists in 15 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He was the third-best scorer in the EuroCup in 2019-20, ranking first in fouls drawn (7.1), free throws made (5.5) and attempted (6.6). Prepelic collected a 2019-20 EuroCup season-high index rating of 45 in a Top 16 game against Tofas Bursa, in which he led Joventut to an 88-84 comeback win with 37 points, 7 assists and 10 fouls drawn. Prepelic had been sent to Joventut on loan from Real Madrid. He averaged 3.8 points in 21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games with Los Blancos in the 2018-19 season, helping Real reach the Final Four and win the Spanish League title. Prepelic started his professional career in his native Slovenia, playing for Maribor, Helios Domzale and Olimpija Ljubljana. He also played for Banvit Bandirma of Turkey, EWE Baskets Oldenburg of Germany, as well as for Limoges CSP and Metropolitans 92 of France. He helped Olimpija win the Slovenian Cup title in 2013 and is a regular member of the Slovenian national team. Prepelic helped Slovenia win the gold medal at EuroBasket 2017 with a big role, getting 13 points in the semifinals against Spain and 21 points in the Championship Game against Serbia.
