Valencia Basket reached a new agreement with point guard Sam Van Rossom, who re-signed for one more year with an option for the 2021-22 season, the club announced Saturday. Van Rossom (1.88 meters, 34 years old) averaged 6.9 points and 4.6 assists in 14 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. In his seven years with Valencia, Van Rossom has helped the club win two 7DAYS EuroCup titles: in 2014 and 2019. He also helped Valencia win the Spanish League crown in 2017, a year in which the club also won the Spanish SuperCup title and reached the EuroCup Finals. Van Rossom grew up in the De Pinte club in his native Belgium and moved to Telenet Ostende in 2005. He also played for Scavolini Spar Pesaro of Italy and CAI Zaragoza of Spain before joining Valencia in 2013. Van Rossom has also been a member of the Belgian national team. He helped Ostende win consecutive Belgian League titles in 2006 and 2007, lifting the Belgian Cup trophy in 2008 as well. In 43 EuroLeague career games with Valencia, Van Rossom has averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 assists. Having played 99 games in the EuroCup, Van Rossom ranks eighth all-time in assists (324) and 14th in games played.
