LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne announced the signing of another top French player with a two-year contract with forward William Howard, the club announced Thursday. Howard (2.02 meters, 26 years old) arrives at ASVEL after playing last season in the United States for Houston of the NBA and Salt Lake City and Rio Grande of the D-League. He averaged 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 36 D-League games between the two teams. Howard will be making his debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with ASVEL, though he does have three seasons of experience in the 7DAYS EuroCup: with Gravelines Dunkerque in 2013-14 and with Limoges CSP in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
After growing up in the INSEP/CFBB youth system, with which he won the 2010 Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament title, Howard played with Gravelines as well as fellow French sides Denain, Hyeres-Toulon and Limoges. In 2018-19, Howard connected on 45.5 percent of his three-pointers in the EuroCup and he shot at least 37.0% in French domestic league action over three seasons from 2015-16 to 2017-18. Howard has also played for the French national team.
