Zenit St Petersburg continued to reshape its backcourt for the upcoming season with the addition of veteran shooter K.C. Rivers for next season, the club announced on Friday. Rivers (1.96 meters, 33 years old) arrivers to Zenit from Zalgiris Kaunas, where he averaged 9.3 points and 1.1 assists in 18 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. Rivers, who won the EuroLeague with Real Madrid in 2015, started the 2019-20 campaign with Spanish side Betis Sevilla. He began his professional basketball career with Latina of Italy and also played in that country for Benetton Treviso, Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia and Virtus Bologna. Rivers's long career also has seen him play for Chorale Roanne of France, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Khimki Moscow Region of Russia, Reno of the D-League, FC Bayern Munich of Germany, Panathinaikos Athens of Greece and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade of Serbia.
Rivers has played seven seasons in the EuroLeague and three campaigns in the 7DAYS EuroCup. In addition to his the 2015 EuroLeague trophy, Rivers has won the two Spanish Copa del Rey crowns and a Spanish League title with Real Madrid. He helped Panathinaikos win Greek League titles in 2017 and 2018 and the Greek Cup in 2017 as well. He also captured the Adriatic League and Serbian League titles with Zvezda in 2019. In 163 EuroLeague career games with Khimki, Real, Bayern, Panathinaikos and Zalgiris, Rivers has accumulated 1,410 points (8.7 ppg.) and 374 rebounds (2.2 rpg.). The signing of Rivers comes after Zenit recently added Kevin Pangos and Denis Zakharov to its backcourt for 2020-21.
